Additional Color Ideas: More of a Navy/Champagne/Blush pink look - more elegant and very appropriate for an evening wedding.

Engagment Photo Shoot

Derek and I had an engagement photo shoot last saturday in the Boston Public Gardens and along Newbury street in Boston. We did it for a few reasons: We wanted nice pictures of us together that weren't shot through a drunken haze of a friend, and we wanted to compile some nice shots to use for a guest sign in book at the reception or a matted photo for the reception. It was also a great way to hang out with our photographer who will be doing our wedding next August. Her name is Mariah. We went to high school together and since then she's become an accomplished photographer for modeling companies and privately specializing in portraits and journalistic photography. She is actually in Kenya right now shooting some remote villages! She's amazing and made Derek and I both feel so comfortable! It was easy - even with people staring and her making us do "serious" faces once in a while (which both Derek and I hardly pulled off). Check out her website! www.mariahgale.com
When Mariah gets back from Kenya we will have some shots online and I'll be sure to post a few :)
I also signed and deposited to secure her as our photographer for the wedding!! WOW! I have a date, place, DJ and now photographer and my wedding is still 447 days away!

Colors

Our Reception Venue at Night all lit up!

Colors, colors, colors... I have so many great ideas and so MUCH time! It drives me crazy because I want to actually run out and start puting the fun stuff together but its just too soon... BUT i have my colors (im pretty sure!) after much debate I've settled on something i feel is timeless but fun and very "August". I love the navy/pink combination with more of a bright hot pink used for flowers and accents and navy for bridesmaids. I love the clean summer look of it and the millions of combinations you can put together. Check out these boards I found that detail the look im thinking of:

Some Progress...

So, we officially have a date, a place and a DJ!! Yay! Signed contracts and deposited money (ugh, and a lot of it...)
Date: August 13, 2011
Place: Seaport Hotel Boston, MA
DJ: Peter Accolla NuImage Entertainment and probably the most expensive thing at my wedding but worth every penney! (he did Jessie and Ellen's weddings) He's AMAZING!!!

So we are trying to think buget and figure out if we can have our wedding videographed by this company that works hand-in-hand with NuImage but its pricey - we'll see, I can't have everything but i seem to be justifying spending more on that because I have a friend from high school being my photographer (cheap and amazing!)
http://www.mariahgale.com/ check it out shes great! She just started doing weddings and she doing our engagement phots on May 16th :) Ill be sure to post some!

The Ring and Shananagans...

Derek and I were out today and on our way back we took World Trade Center Ave to check out the reception venue again for fun. We didn't realize the security guard when we blew past him and he actually caught up to us. He looked like he was 12 years old and then made us U-turn it and leave, but not before checking out the amazing gardens and view from the place! Can't wait!

We blocked out 15 rooms at the hotel for Friday and Sat night the weekend of the wedding at an AMAZING rate so we can keep the party going!

Help we need a ceremony site! We keep flip-flopping between getting married in a church or not...there are some gorgeous churches in Southie but we originally wanted to get married outdoors...we'll see...been researching Boston and they max out renting any park/beach or recreation area in the city and surrounding areas to 50 people and no rentals (chairs, etc.) making this harder than I thought...

PS - Got my contract signed :)

Summer in the City Wedding

So we have a date! Just confirmed today and we still need to finalize by actually signing the contract, but 8-13-11 is it!
Why did we pick this date? Nothing special or meaningful...just knew we wanted summer/fall 2011 and just picked 8-13 because according to the calendar its a full moon that night. So, sorry, no crazy meaningful date picked out - but from now on it will be :)

Derek and I want to have a big summer in the city wedding. We live in South Boston and our families are from RI and north shore Mass, so its a good in-between. We love Boston! We want the reception in a fun, unique place that will be completely unforgettable.
So here it is - the Seaport Hotel Boston, MA - right on Boston Harbor in the city. Beautiful views and incredible spaces, we fell in love with it! Check it out -
